Let's get you back to business:
Business Insurance Claims
When disaster brings your business to a sudden halt, there’s a lot to deal with. You have the damage, the stress and to top it all off, every passing day of no business means another day’s loss of profit.
Worst of all, your insurance company is dragging out the process and offering you a settlement that you don’t feel matches your losses.
We understand that you need to get your business back on track- and fast. As soon as you contact us, we will help you with any emergency repairs and get cracking on getting you the maximum compensation to fund your repairs, as soon as possible. We also try to get you the money lost through the interruption of your regular business schedule.
What to do when disaster strikes
Storm
After you’ve made sure that all your employees are safe, and switched off all utilities to prevent further damage, contact us. We’ll guide you step by step on how to proceed in order to get the highest possible settlement from your insurers, leaving you with the least stress possible.
Fire
Extinguish the source of the fire and switch off the electricity fuse box if safe to approach. As soon as everyone is safe and the fire is completely out, call us. We’ll quickly assess the damage done and get working on your claim for the maximum settlement possible
Flood
Be sure to call a plumber to turn off the water source and make sure all electricity around the burst pipe is switched off. As soon as you can, call us so we can assess the true extent of the damage, take over the claim and get you your money.
Business interruption
If your business had to come to a halt and you’re insured for business interruption, call us immediately. Your insurance company will send a loss adjuster to assess the value you lost, but they are employed to keep your compensation low, so it’s worthwhile to have an assessor who’s ON your side, at your side.
Theft
Contact police and your insurers as soon as you notice the theft; otherwise, your claim may be considered invalid. After you’ve secured your business’ point of entry, contact us and we’ll take over. In no time, you’ll be back to business while we make sure that you get the compensation you deserve.

I pay good money for an insurance policy. Why shouldn’t they handle my claim?
You may receive support from your Insurance company immediately after filing a claim. They will offer financial assistance in a situation of urgency and cover for serious damage or loss.
After the initial crisis has passed, you will want to consider what else has gone wrong, but your insurance company will try to get out of paying you what you truly deserve.
Here is where a loss assessor comes in. He will work for you. He will research and calculate and organise all the relevant information in order to maximise your rights within your policy.
You call yourself a Loss Assessor. So, what is a Loss Adjuster?
In essence, Loss Assessors and Loss Adjusters do the same work. They are both professionals that manage insurance claims.
There is, however, one significant difference. The Loss Assessor is employed by and works for YOU, so they will try to get you the best possible settlement figure. The Loss Adjuster is employed by and works for the INSURER, so they will endeavour to bring the lowest figure.
Will my insurance company be opposed to me hiring a Loss Assessor?
Loss Assessors can only help you claim what is legally yours as detailed in your insurance policy. Not a penny more!
You have the right to be equally represented in your claim. Your insurance company will surely hire a Loss Adjuster to make clever negotiations on their behalf; it is only fair that you be allowed a Loss Assessor to work out the best possible arrangements for you.
My insurance company says that I am underinsured. How can a Loss Assessor help?
If you are underinsured, it means that you are not insured against the full value of possible loss or damage. The question of ‘under-insurance’ is not clear-cut. It is difficult to assess accurately whether a property or business is underinsured and by how much because there is no right or wrong figure when calculating the value of assets. This can seriously affect your claim.
Loss Adjusters (who work for your insurance company) use various tactics to prove that a claimant is under-insured, hoping to decrease the settlement figure drastically. In contrast, the Loss Assessors will provide evidence of adequate insurance cover.
If a claimant is worried about underinsurance, it is essential that he uses a Loss Assessor at the earliest convenience.
Do I need a loss assessor for a small claim?
Of course, with bigger claims, the need for a Loss Assessor intensifies. However, with any size claim, besides bringing you your money quickly, a Loss Assessor will spare you lots of headache and aggravation, leaving you free to continue with your daily life.
There are many loss assessors who will not bother with small claims because there is not much money in it for them. We at Knights treat every claim with equal importance because we believe that every claimant should get every penny they deserve.
At what point should I involve a Loss Assessor?
It is in your best interest that the Loss Assessor is contacted at the very beginning. This will ensure that the Loss Adjusters will not mislead you into saying or doing something that can weaken or even invalidate your claim.
The loss adjusters act friendly and helpful in order to gain your trust, but it is worth remembering that they are seeking to satisfy their employers (the insurance company) by saving them as much money as possible. By hiring a loss assessor at the start of your claim, you avoid being taken advantage of just because you lack the knowledge of the tricks of their trade.
It is also possible to hire a Loss Assessor further along the road. Often a claimant starts out on his own but then notices that the insurance company is either delaying the claim or trying to shirk its responsibilities. The Loss assessors can still be appointed, but executing the claim to everyone’s satisfaction will be a little tougher than necessary.
In the event that a loss Assessor is only hired after a claim has been rejected by the insurance company, overturning the verdict is a complicated affair, but competent Loss Assessors can accomplish a reversal for a raised commission.
I do not have insurance at all. Can you help me nevertheless?
The short answer is: No!
However, if it can be proven that there was a third party who was responsible for the damage and that they were negligent in some way, we can pursue a claim on your behalf.
Will you charge me for your work if my claim is rejected/not paid?
No. rest assured: If it's yours by rights – it will happen through knights.
